Dedicated hosting services primarily differ from managed hosting services in that managed hosting services usually offer more support and other services. As such, managed hosting is targeted towards clients with less technical knowledge, whereas dedicated hosting services, or unmanaged hosting services, are suitable for web development and system administrator professionals.
If you are a business in need of a medium to enterprise-level website, then Bluehost is a great option with different packages for dedicated servers that match your budget. Bluehost provides a few features included with the price to make it a better option if you do not know how to set up a server or want to get through setup as quickly as possible.
CentOS is the most popular version of Linux for web servers. It is an open-source Linux distribution derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), but it is not affiliated with Red Hat, Inc. With its fast-growing base of users and community contributors, CentOS is constantly tested and updated to ensure that its users have a stable, secure and high-performance hosting environment.
Oh, and let's not forget what else you get for paying a little less, with most game hosting providers - abysmal service, avoidance of the truth and attempts to shift blame when confronted with performance issues while still taking in money, then refusing refunds when all's said and done and people learn their lesson, and cancel their service with you.
Many dedicated server providers include a service level agreement based on network up-time. Some dedicated server hosting providers offer a 100% up-time guarantee on their network. By securing multiple vendors for connectivity and using redundant hardware, providers are able to guarantee higher up-times; usually between 99-100% up-time if they are a higher quality provider. One aspect of higher quality providers is they are most likely to be multi-homed across multiple quality up-link providers, which in turn, provides significant redundancy in the event one goes down in addition to potentially improved routes to destinations.
One of the reasons for choosing to outsource dedicated servers is the availability of high powered networks from multiple providers. As dedicated server providers utilize massive amounts of bandwidth, they are able to secure lower volume based pricing to include a multi-provider blend of bandwidth. To achieve the same type of network without a multi-provider blend of bandwidth, a large investment in core routers, long term contracts, and expensive monthly bills would need to be in place. The expenses needed to develop a network without a multi-provider blend of bandwidth does not make sense economically for hosting providers.
It is very rare for a customer to exceed normal usage while managing a website. Typically, customers only experience issues if they use their accounts for storage (for example large multimedia files) or file sharing. Our hosting services are not intended to support these activities, and in accordance with our Terms of Service your disk space and bandwidth usage must be integrated into the normal operation of a website. We offer various plans that better address high bandwidth and large storage requirements. Please contact us for details.
Check out our newest state-of-the-art facility in Ashburn, Virginia that we call "Data Center Alley." It includes 2N+2 power redundancy fed by two distinct utility substations and dual water lines for redundant cooling. There's a fast 1GBps internet connection and emergency generators on standby for technical security and multifactor identification, multi-level security zones and 24x7 staffing for even more peace of mind.

Bandwidth consumption over the last several years has shifted from a per megabit usage model to a per gigabyte usage model. Bandwidth was traditionally measured in line speed access that included the ability to purchase needed megabits at a given monthly cost. As the shared hosting model developed, the trend towards gigabyte or total bytes transferred, replaced the megabit line speed model so dedicated server providers started offering per gigabyte.
Hello everyone one of my friends host a server often and he has a extra tower that he can host a actual server. Thing is we dont think its possible. Him and I would like to talk to the game dev about this. So if anyone knows how to get in touch with the dev I would love to know. Pass this on because even the possiblity to host 15+ player could actually draw traction for the game and maybe bring it up to the light of other survival companys.
Hi Guys. For quite some time my community has been renting a normal game server for hosting our RP server. We are now thinking about getting a dedicated server box to expand our community as well as wanting our current server to have less lag and able to handle more player slots. We have tried a variety of hosts and think it's time to move to a dedicated server. Now to my point, is there any good dedicated server host's out there that you can recommend and that you have heard of that are good. Hopefully that are not too expensive as well. The dedicated server box must be in either the UK or Europe. The server will only need to run 1 or 2 servers so it won't need state of the art features. I appreciate the help.
Starts with a brief interview to assess your requirements and determine which server or upgrades would optimize your workload. In this situation we recommend at least one or two Elite Dedicated Servers depending on the number of customers you anticipate receiving upon launch. A single server could perform the double duty of hosting your site (front-end) and hosting your client’s sites/email. In a two-server configuration the workloads could be separated into two separate servers giving more resources to each and providing better performance for your website and your clients’ sites. Next we’ll help you set up WHMCS to bill and provision hosting services for your customers’ websites. To provide a safe location to store your data in the event of a disaster, we’ll assist you in creating a backup solution that can include the storage provider of your choice (Amazon S3, Google Drive, etc.) or by storing the backups on an affordable server focused on large storage capacity to keep your data in-house and under your control. As your success grows, it’s safe to expect a larger user-base on your web/email service and a greater number of visitors on your site. This is a great problem to have and it inevitably requires more server resources. We’ll be here to provide expertise on improving your servers’ performance with software optimizations, server hardware upgrades, or even additional servers if you require a lot more room to grow.
Right, but we're talking about running full Squad servers here, not 30-man INF. layer-only deathmatch servers for you and a few chums. You want to run a small server? By all means go ahead and rent one from a GSP. And hope you get a decent one that doesn't load so many customers on one box that you still get performance issues (even with your lower player count) due to I/O bottlenecking on the box you're on.
Our Commercial Class and Standard Dedicated Server lineup are equipped with Xeon® processors. This ensures excellent performance and the reliable operation of your dedicated server. Support for any of these operating systems typically depends on the level of management offered with a particular dedicated server plan. Operating system support may include updates to the core system in order to acquire the latest security fixes, patches, and system-wide vulnerability resolutions. Updates to core operating systems include kernel upgrades, service packs, application updates, and security patches that keep the server secure and safe. Operating system updates and support relieves the burden of server management from the dedicated server owner.
