So to anyone reading this: NO, you don't need a 500$ box to run a server, You can rent a server from a hosting company you don't even have to go with the one I am with. Yes 80 Full slotted servers take a ton of resources but not 12-16 gigs of ram. But you will be paying around 100$ for your server with 80 slots. For people looking for small 30 slot servers its cheap affordable and I have no problems.

Hello everyone one of my friends host a server often and he has a extra tower that he can host a actual server. Thing is we dont think its possible. Him and I would like to talk to the game dev about this. So if anyone knows how to get in touch with the dev I would love to know. Pass this on because even the possiblity to host 15+ player could actually draw traction for the game and maybe bring it up to the light of other survival companys.
The second bandwidth measurement is unmetered service where providers cap or control the “top line” speed for a server. Top line speed in unmetered bandwidth is the total Mbit/s allocated to the server and configured on the switch level. For example, if you purchase 10 Mbit/s unmetered bandwidth, the top line speed would be 10 Mbit/s. 10 Mbit/s would result in the provider controlling the speed transfers take place while providing the ability for the dedicated server owner to not be charged with bandwidth overages. Unmetered bandwidth services usually incur an additional charge.

Security – Clients using a dedicated platform will be able to deploy security measures, such as anti-virus and firewall configurations, that are more tailored to their own functions; whilst also avoiding the security vulnerabilities that can otherwise be introduced by the activities of neighbouring clients on shared hosting platforms. In addition, dedicated servers located within data centers can benefit from the physical security measures that such facilities often put in place, including, for example, biometric authentication, security guards and mantraps.
No, This is me. You really must be smoking some good shit. What makes you think these servers take So much to run? Like this game is god tier for the gaming Industry. The answer is no this game doesn't take that much to run and obviously if a server is eating that much resources you move him to a node worthy of that output. Someone must of peed in your cheerios because it took you days just to respond to me then you got Oni_Shinobi thinking he knows everything. But no, you are both not as smart as you think you are. Actually get a server and look for yourself. This game is not that much different from ark. You gonna tell me Ark needs a OVH dedicated box? No. I want you to go in the game, Join a full 80 server and ask for a admin. Ask him how much hes paying a month. It will be around 100$ that is normal.
What does this have to do with server hosts running too many instances on a box, getting shit performance, then blaming it on a host of unrelated crap, including blaming OWI? Cus, you know, that has happened plenty of times so far. Which is what the various hosters in this wider community have been discussing amongst each other for the past few years.

Every Dedicated Server comes preloaded with APF. APF is a well known and respected software firewall that utilizes the built in Linux routing system (iptables). The firewall will be configured to prevent access to all ports but ones necessary for servicing the site. Certain services, like SSH, are blocked by default to help prevent common attacks. During the setup process we can add your IP addresses to allow access to whichever services you deem fit.

I don't know what you are smoking but it must be something good. I am on a Shared box and I have no idea what the CPU or ram cap is for what I am on. I am with Ascendservers and they are just a normal hosting company. I pay 43.50 USD for 50 players where we have scrims within our group. I am not even using 2 Gigs of Ram or even 5% of the CPU with 5 players in it. I bet you Ark takes more power to run than Squad. I asked them and they said its a OVH Box.
Develop a web-based service to provide guidance for professionals in your field. The service will showcase content in the form of blog posts and videos sorted by subject/specialty with the goal of honing their skills using your extensive experience. You also want to offer your patrons the option to host their website and email through your own hosting service and this solution should be upgradable to meet the increase in demand over time.

Microsoft offers software licenses through a program called the Service Provider License Agreement. The SPLA model provides use of Microsoft products through a monthly user or processor based fee. SPLA software includes the Windows Operating System, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint and shoutcast hosting, and many other server based products.
Known as a "Redundant Array of Independent Disks," this method combines several hard disk drives into one unit, combating data redundancy and improving performance. Featuring fault tolerance (what enables a system to continue operating even if it fails) and a higher capacity/volume, data gets distributed in “RAID levels,” which is dependent on the specific level of required redundancy and performance.
You could buy an old server and colo. RapidSwitch has a nice deal for £36 per month. http://www.rapidswitch.com/Colocation.aspx
For colocation, I wouldn't go with RapidSwitch unless you have serious money to burn. While they're a very good and very professional host, there's a few hidden costs which they don't exactly tell you about when you sign up. Have a look at killercreation.co.uk. The guy who runs that - Justin - is possibly the nicest person you could ever meet. They also do standard dedicated servers which are a little more expensive than RapidSwitch, but the attitude of the company outweighs that imo. Where RapidSwitch are extremely professional, KillerCreation are much more down to earth and friendly.
The OP claims that you need about 16 GB for one server, and an additional 8 GB per extra instance you want to run. This is in line with the amount of RAM the system itself will take up combined with the amount of RAM the game server will be using up after you've left it running for a couple of days. The game is - yet again - still not fully optimised, and there are still some mem. leaks present. If you don't believe me, yet again - go to the Squad Hosting Discord and ask for some usage graphs. Most of the time this amount of RAM won't be a necessity, but you could have performance issues if your RAM fills up. Not that it matters, as the dedicated boxes you'll be looking to rent will all offer more than 16 GB, anyway.
But a company looking for more power and control may need a service provider who offers dedicated hosting. With dedicated hosting, a client rents a server from a dedicated hosting provider, and has exclusive use of that server’s resources. The provider works with the client to give them the CPU, RAM, and disk space that they need. The provider builds and maintains the server, eliminating a  business’ upfront cost of purchasing their own.
Additionally, you'll want a web hosting service that offers Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) if you plan to sell products. Here's why: An SSL connection encrypts the data that travels between your site and users' web browsers, thus safeguarding the transmission of purchasing information. You've probably seen a green padlock in your web browser's address bar while logging into your online bank account or making online purchases. It's a symbol of trust. Some companies include a free SSL certificate when you sign up for a hosting plan, while others charge close to $100. You can save some money by shopping around for the services that offer the cheapest SSL plans.
Ok, buddy, are you having an aneurism? This thread wasn't made to promote anyone or anything - it was made to dispel misleading bullcrap from shitty, unscrupulous GSPs and try and encourage more people getting a dedicated box, after the constant pain we regularly see when yet another poor sap gets crap performance with no refund after cancellation of service from a GSP in the Squad server host community. Time and again we see the same complaints from people, about the same companies that prey on people with little technical know-how that just want to run a game server.

The two environments have plenty of overlapping qualities, but most importantly Dedicated Server render greater security, customization and excellent availability. With granular control, you are free to customize hardware components like disk space or RAM and installation of unique operating systems. More substantial computing power (CPUs) and disk space allow Dedicated servers enhanced performance for high amounts of traffic. When uptime and performance are critical to your business Dedicated Servers are second to none for hosting.

What I would do is setup the tower so it plays with the best possible performance. As nobody will be playing on it you can pull all the graphics down to their minimums. I'd set it up with a password initially until you can create a small central base with a bed where the main character will respawn and then make it player proof (dbl steel walls and off the ground).

A dedicated server allows a client the flexibility of customizing the server to the clients unique needs for CPU, RAM, disk space and software. With shared hosting, a customer is limited to the applications, software and operating environment already loaded on the server. They may either offer software a client doesn’t need or lack things that they do.
Dedicated hosting server providers utilize extreme security measures to ensure the safety of data stored on their network of servers. Providers will often deploy various software programs for scanning systems and networks for obtrusive invaders, spammers, hackers, and other harmful problems such as Trojans, worms, and crashers (Sending multiple connections). Linux and Windows use different software for security protection.
